Mulla had a terrible toothache and went to the dentist. The dentist said, "I have to pull it. Two dollars per tooth." "Can't you do it for one dollar?" Mulla asked. "No," the dentist said. Mulla reluctantly agreed. He sat in the chair, but pointed to a perfectly healthy tooth and said, "This is the one that hurts, pull this one." The dentist pulled it. Immediately, Mulla winced and said, "Ah, my mistake! The one that hurts is actually the one next to it." The dentist pulled the bad tooth as well. Mulla handed him two dollars and walked out, muttering to himself, "I outsmarted him! I got two teeth pulled for two dollars, which is exactly the one-dollar-per-tooth rate I wanted in the first place!"
