A Genuine Offer

Written story
Mulla was broke, but his friends kept demanding he host them for a dinner party. He kept making excuses, but they insisted, saying, "Just make whatever you have in the house, we don't care!" On the day of the party, Mulla served them a meager meal of bread, yogurt, dates, and cheese. He kept encouraging them, saying, "Please, don't be shy! Treat this food as if it is your own!" The friends loved his hospitality and ate everything. But when they went to the door to leave, their coats and shoes were missing. "Mulla, where did you put our coats and shoes?" they asked. "At the pawnshop down the street," Mulla said. "Why?!" Mulla replied, "I told you to eat the food as if it was your own, didn't I? I wasn't lying. I paid for it by pawning your clothes." The friends had to pool their money together to buy their own clothes back from the pawnshop.
