A Slight Exaggeration
A European traveler was visiting Mulla's town and bragging at a dinner party about the massive skyscrapers and palaces in his home country. Not wanting to be outdone, Mulla spoke up.
"That's nothing. Just outside our town, there is a palace that is five thousand yards wide..."
Just then, a few highly educated local architects walked into the room.
Mulla saw them, cleared his throat, and quickly finished his sentence: "...and about fifty yards long."
A guest asked, "Wait, how can a building be five thousand yards wide but only fifty yards long?"
Mulla whispered, "The arrival of those experts forced me to be honest about the length. And frankly, the width is closer to twenty-five yards."
