Mulla was leading his donkey to the market. The donkey was carrying a heavy basket of vegetables. Halfway there, the donkey just stopped and refused to move. Mulla tried begging and pleading, but the stubborn animal wouldn't budge. Finally, Mulla lost his temper, grabbed a stick, and started whacking the donkey. A crowd immediately gathered. "Why are you beating that poor animal?!" one guy yelled. "Stop hitting him right now!" a woman demanded. "What a cruel, heartless man!" someone else shouted. Mulla stopped, looked at his donkey with genuine admiration, and said, "Wow. If I had known you had this many relatives ready to jump to your defense, I never would have laid a hand on you! You clearly come from a very large, very loud family." Insulted, the crowd quickly dispersed, leaving Mulla to deal with his donkey in peace.
