The Riddle of Humanity

A group of followers gathered around Mullah Nasruddin. A philosopher among them asked, "O Wise Mullah, what is the most baffling thing about human beings?"

Mullah stroked his beard, smiled, and said: "Humans are a total paradox! First, they are in such a rush to grow up that they skip their childhood, only to long for it when they are old, willing to give everything to be young again. Second, they sacrifice their health to make money. Then, they spend all that money trying to recover their health. Third, they live greedily as if they will never die, but they die having never really lived. And finally, they are so anxious about the future that they don't enjoy the present. They don't live in the past or the future, yet they ruin the now."

The crowd fell silent, absorbed in the wisdom. Mullah adjusted his hat and added: "Basically, life is this exact moment... and thanks to your questions, my tea has gone cold!"
